Global hotel group IHG will open a new Holiday Inn in New Zealand's sporting playground of Queenstown.
IHG signed an agreement for the 182-room new build with owner QLong Investments Limited which is slated to open in early 2021.
Holiday Inn Queenstown Remarkables Park will become a flagship for Holiday Inn in New Zealand.
The site is located within a few minutes' drive from Queenstown Airport and close to the Remarkables Ski Field.
Planned amenities include an all-day dining and bar venue, meeting space and an on-site gym.
"With a company focus on growing our brands into regional areas, we are thrilled to partner with QLong Investments. Our existing hotels in Queenstown are performing extremely well, and this new Holiday Inn will complement them perfectly, along with the upcoming Holiday Inn Express which will open in 2020," said Abhijay Sandilya, IHG's senior director of development - Australasia.
It is close to one of New Zealand's premier ski fields and Remarkables Park comprises 150 hectares of multi-use retail, resort, residential and recreational facilities. The hotel is located a few hundred metres from the retail and commercial centre of the Park.
Queenstown attracts more than 3.6 million visitor nights annually.
IHG has 47 hotels currently operating in Australasia, under four brands with a further 29 in the development pipeline.
