Singapore based budget carrier Scoot is shifting its operations to Singapore Changi Airport's Terminal 1 later this year.

It will move from Terminal 2 on October 22, 2019.

The airline will start updating passengers with booked flights from later this month about the terminal change, and it will also be updated on changiairport.com and the iChangi app.

The airline says the move will help aid its expected expansion over the next few years.

Scoot is on track to start nine new routes by end of 2020 and since April this year has launched eight new destinations in China, India, Laos and Malaysia.

Over the past few years Changi Airport has been upgrading the terminal to increase capacity, supported by better tech.

The Departure Hall has a new Fast and Seamless Travel (FAST) zone with automated check-in and bag-drop kiosks.

The check-in experience is one of the main areas of customer service the airline wants to improve, it says.

"Over the years, our network coverage has grown rapidly. Every touchpoint of our customers' travel journey matter to us. With the move, we hope to encourage more customers to use the expanded self-service facilities," said Scoot CEO Lee Lik Hsin.
