Vietnamese budget carrier Vietjet is adding two more routes to Tokyo.

Vietjet will link Ho Chi Minh City to Tokyo Narita from July 12, and Da Nang to Tokyo Haneda on October 26.

The airline already serves Tokyo from Hanoi.

"The rapid expansion of Vietjet's flight network to Japan will help the people of the two countries have more options for their sightseeing travels and business trips," said Vietjet vice president, Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh.

"In the coming future, we will continue to offer more flying opportunities connecting the two countries."

The routes were unveiled during a state visit to Japan by Vietnamese Prime Minister, Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The PM says more than 330,000 Vietnamese now visit Japan and the growing market has opened up opportunities for airlines, especially low-cost operators.

"With the expansion of international and domestic flight networks together with new and modern fleet, VietJet will become a strong carrier in the region," the PM said.
