Thai AirAsia X is launching its first flights to Australia with service connecting Bangkok with Brisbane.

Nonstop flights will begin on June 25 and operate four times a week.

Malaysia based AirAsia X also flies to Perth and Melbourne Avalon.

"Queensland became AirAsia's home in Australia when the first AirAsia X flight touched down on the Gold Coast in October 2007.  Since that time, we've carried more than 2 million passengers to and from the sunshine state," said AirAsia X Group chief executive Nadda Buranasiri.

"This new route to Brisbane will not only increase traffic between Thailand and Queensland, but importantly provide guests with a low-cost option to explore Bangkok."

"Thailand is an aspirational destination for Australians and one of Brisbane Airport's largest underserved markets," said Brisbane Airport Corporation chief executive Gert-Jan de Graaff, who expects the service to bring about 25,000 visitors a year.
