Ryanair is to operate two new routes from Edinburgh next summer, giving it a total of 58.

As a result, the airline, which will base an additional aircraft at the airport, expects to carry 3.5 million passengers from Edinburgh next year.

Its schedule, which goes on sale today, includes for the first time flights to Billund, which will operate twice weekly, and flights to Luxembourg, which will operate three times a week.

Ryanair will also offer summer flights to Berlin, Derry, Lisbon, Memmingen, Riga, Seville, Sofia, Stockholm and Tallinn from Edinburgh for the first time.

Chief marketing officer Kenny Jacobs said: "We are pleased to launch our Edinburgh summer 19 schedule, with 11 new routes and 58 routes in total, which will deliver 3.5 million customers through Edinburgh airport next year.

"We will also base an additional aircraft (an investment of $100m) at Edinburgh as we continue to grow traffic, routes, tourism and jobs."
