Hainan Airlines will become the first Chinese carrier to serve Mexico after announcing the launch of flights from Beijing to Mexico City beginning next mont
The transpacific flights will include a technical stop in Tijuana and begin on March 21.
The three times weekly service will be flown by Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
It is the second attempt to start Mexico services after Hainan tried in 2016 but pushed it back indefinitely.
"We are sure that the attraction that Mexico City has for its connectivity to different points in Mexico and other places in Latin America, and even North America and Europe, will have a very important effect on the growth of tourism," said Jose Luis Bernal, Mexico's ambassador to China.
The tourist market is still growing strongly.
Mexico welcomed about 120,000 Chinese visitors in 2016, up 14% year-on-year.
